I love the early mornings, when the fog is still lifting and it leaves everything dewy and new. I love listening to the birds talk. I love the smells of this new place. I love how it always feels like a breath of fresh air here. I love the sound of my teammate Kalei Grace’s voice floating down the staircase as she worships her God in the mornings. I love the way that I can see God in every plant, cloud, mountaintop, drop of water, personality trait on my team. And, I really love all the dogs here! He fashioned each and every aspect of Panajachel so beautifully. On this Sabbath day, I am feeling incredibly blessed to rest with the Lord and reflect on this past week in Guatemala.

Picture 1. Our first week of ministry here was genuinely just so much fun! We began revitalizing a library in a nearby community that children and families will be able to enjoy for years to come. We are still working to turn the building around, inside and out.

Picture 2. My sweet little team with our ministry host, Ricardo, on a sunny afternoon. Sometimes the language barrier presents an issue between us and him/ the kids (although there’s nothing a little street soccer can’t fix!), and I’ve really had to break out my 6th grade Spanish. But, I have enjoyed the challenge and have loved getting to know them all as best I can.

Picture 3. A coast of the stunning Lake Atitlan, which we are walking distance from. The lake is lined with gorgeous volcanoes and mountains. God’s handiwork at its finest!

Picture 4. The children of the community would await our arrival at the new library every day, and we had so much fun painting and playing with them throughout the week! Here, two sisters add their own personal flare to the exterior of the building. Inside, the children helped us by adding hand prints as the leaves to our “reading tree”. I am excited to see how la biblioteca turns out when it is completed this next week!

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. I am grateful for you!

Love,
Cayla
